A Private Event With the Ryan Meisel Quartet

November12th2022

The form is not published.

Ryan Meisel and Jake Polancich have enjoyed a very long playing career that started in the Spring of 2011. They have played in many groups together with Montauk Project, Montuak Project: Piu Mosse, Sincerely Linus, and many incarnations of the Ryan Meisel Quintets, Quartets, Trios and Collectives, being a few of them. Together, they play music that is original, unifying among musicians, and uplifting for audiences. As teachers together for the first time now at Arrowhead High School, they strive to inspire their students to find their own voice with their music and to learn how to be creative through jazz and the many styles of music they are exposed to.

On Saturday November 12th at 7:00, they will be playing their show Spirit Dance: A Tribute to John Coltrane in support of their brand new vinyl album of the same name. This album and show is a tribute to the spiritual music of John Coltrane and the profound impact it has had on the musician’s lives. Whether it was on a blues or a ballad, Coltrane shaped the world of jazz with his technique and virtuosic musical concepts, later taking inspiration from world religions and cultures. These songs, these improvisations, are Ryan’s stories, and his way of contributing to Coltrane’s legacy. He is joined by Lake Country’s own Jake Polancich on Drums, and Milwaukee’s Chris Newlin on Guitar and Isaiah Simons on Bass.
